Off We Go

We are on our way to the O’Hare airport in Chicago. Thank goodness I brought my dad’s iPad to blog on because my patience is not going to tolerate this slower than a freaking snail phone.

Anyway, thanks to all of you that have made this trip possible for me, as well as those of you that will keep up with all the adventure I will be experiencing in Haiti. I’m so excited to share this experience with you!

ll blog more when I get to Miami tonight, my phone won’t cooperate with me this morning.

Stressful Packing!

Haiti packing1

So I have been trying to get things together for this adventure and I’m starting to get stressed!! I have been to Europe and I packed pretty easily, however, this is nothing like I’ve ever had to pack for. We are limited to things we are able to take, as we are only allowed to travel with one carry-on suitcase, and a backpack. I never thought about the fact that I may not have enough room for everything! AHH!

Anyway, I decided after a very short time of sorting through things, that I needed a break. I figured it would be cool to show you some of the things we have in our Haiti information packet.

I’m trying to familiarize myself with the language a little.

This is an idea of where we will be in the country of Haiti. Some are confused as to where Port Au Prince (where the airport is) is compared to Les Cayes. (Where we will be staying)

I better get back to packing. I still have so much to get done before we leave. I cannot believe we only have one day before this whole journey begins. I will update I’m sure tomorrow!

So much love to you all,

Trip to Haiti

I begin my journey to Les Cayes, Haiti in less than four days. I’m very mixed with emotion. I have a lot of excitement built up, and I also have a lot of nervous feelings about it. Either way it is an amazing experience I have been offered. I’m so blessed to be able to have the opportunity to get to help people in the way I will be. This experience will be life changing. Although I am beginning to be hesitant and nervous, (which is very unlike me) I believe it is simply because I don’t have any idea what to expect. However, I am going into this with a completely open mind, and positive attitude.

For those of you who do not know what we will be doing, we will be spending 8 days in Haiti. Throughout the course of this time, we will be working with children in sports camps, and putting on weddings for Haitian couples that cannot afford to get married. I get the amazing┬áprivilege┬áto be a photographer during these weddings. What an amazing opportunity to capture love through a lens. I’m extremely excited.

We will be leaving Chicago, O’Hare airport Friday, June 28th.

Our flight leaves at 4:15pm. We will arrive in Miami around 8:30pm, and spend a night there.

Saturday, June 29th we will leave Miami at 10:00am, and arrive in Port Au Prince, Haiti at 12:05pm.

We then have a five hour drive to Les Cayes, Haiti after our flight.

I’m very excited to start blogging about my adventure, and all of the stories I will have to tell. I know this is going to be such a moving and life changing trip, and I’m very blessed with the opportunity. God couldn’t have chosen a better time, nor could He have chosen a better group of people to allow me to go with. I still have not met everyone that will be going with us, so I’m very excited for the new friendships. I am not completely sure what the situation is like as far as internet connection but I’m told we have time before bed to write and blog so I will try to upload pictures and blog entries as much as I can.

This is what the weather will look like the first couple of days we will be there!
